Natural World Focus
Nature urgently needs our help to recover – and it can be done. By joining up wild places and creating more across the UK we would improve our lives and help nature to flourish – because everything works better when it’s connected.

There are many organisations which promote the protection of wildlife and their habitats. Many of them (like those below) ask for the help of others to record what they see in their local environments. This information can be used to get an up-to-date picture of the current status.

Wildlife Log: www.wildlifelog.org

Woodland Trust: Spotter Sheets
Wildlife Watch: Spotter Sheets
Identification: Identify A Bug
Different habitats promote different wildlife and growth. You can find the most surprising things if you look close enough. |
The Scottish Wildlife Trust has 'Wildlife Watch Groups'. Using this as an inspiration, can Primary 6 form their own version of a 'Wildlife Watch Group'. They will need to design and create a 'School Safari' which locates, logs and promotes the care of wildlife and habitat along a specified route in the school grounds.
If successful, these records could be uploaded to one of the Wildlife organisations listed above, as well as helping other children and adults in the school to learn more about their own outdoor environment. |
Our Wildlife Watch groups organise lots of fun events and activities for children. There are currently more than 30 of these clubs located across Scotland, with over 300 members aged between 2 and 18. |
