Mexican Wave
This is based on the ‘Mexican Wave’ phenomenon which is popular in sports venues.
- Sit in a circle. Decide whether the wave will go clockwise or anti-clockwise.
- The first person stands, raises their arms and sits.
- The next person does the same.
- This continues until everyone has had a turn…and if it is agreed, you can continue another circuit.
- It is important not to stand up before it is your turn.
Variation
- As above, but each person has an option to use an agreed signal – a clap, hands on head, a pirouette etc.
- When a person uses the signal, the wave goes in the reverse direction.
- This could lead to one or two people controlling the direction of the wave, in which case, everyone can only use the signal once. Using the ‘one shot’ rule, time how quickly you can do it ensuring that everyone has their turn.
